What kind of people attend WFA?

Wilmington First Assembly is home to people of all ages, from all walks of life. We believe that every church should be a true reflection of its community. When you visit WFA, you will find people from many different backgrounds. We embrace our differences as a celebration of who we are: a diverse people united by the love and grace of God. No matter who you are or where you’ve been in life, there’s a place for you here!

What will service be like?

Our Sunday morning worship services are compelling times of worship and teaching from God’s word. Services start at 10:30 AM and usually last about an hour and a half. Our worship style is modern, simplistic, with a blend of old and new. If you’ve been around church, you’ll probably recognize some old favorites as well as enjoy currently popular worship songs. If you’ve never been to church, we think you’ll still enjoy the music. Whether you recognize the songs or not, our goal is to create an experience where you can encounter God. There is also a time of teaching from God’s word. The Bible is God’s love letter and revealing of His Son, and is both timeless and relevant. Our goal is for our messages to help you fully understand three things:

1. Who God is...
2. Who you are in relation to Him...
3. All that you have as a result of His grace and love for you.

What about my kids?

We love kids! In fact we like to have them with us as we worship together as a family. After the praise and worship time, the children are dismissed and escorted to their classes. On Sunday mornings we offer nursery (6 weeks-3 years old) and preschool classes (ages 3 to 6 years old) as well as kids church (grades 1-6). We also have a class for tweens (ages 10-12). Your kids will experience a fun and interactive service that is specifically designed to help them learn to know God. All helpers in our kids areas are trained, screened and have passed a background check, but most of all, they enjoy kids and are committed to keeping your kids safe, and helping them have fun and learn about God.

 What should I wear?

God doesn’t care whether you’re formal or casual; after all, He looks at the heart. We’re not going to stress out about what you wear, and we don’t want you to either. Be comfortable, be yourself. If that’s a suit and tie, great! If it’s jeans and a t-shirt, great! We (and God) want to get to know the real you, no need to perform or pretend with us.

Will I be singled out, asked to give money, or asked to do anything weird if I visit?

No. We are friendly, so others may greet you and introduce themselves, but you won’t be asked to stand, come forward, or in any way publicly identify yourself as a guest. We do receive an offering during our service, but guests are never asked to give. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your experience here. We do encourage you to fill out an information card and drop it off in the offering or give to an usher. We will never spam you, sell or distribute your information. Our Pastor will send you a letter or email after you visit for the first time, but we respect and value your privacy the same as our own.
